June 2003, Off To the Painter

1st - 7th June No building due to work commitments. Highlight of the week was the departure of the control surfaces and fuselage to the painters. The plane is being painted in flexibilised automotive paint and then hand sanded to glider gloss finish.

8th June Applied what I hope is the last set of filler on the port wing lower surface.

9th - 20th June Took a couple of hours at a time an alternated between filling and sanding the wing surface. I am having to do this slowly as my right elbow is not enjoying the experience.

21st - 30th June No building, working in England.

I have admitted defeat and I am contracting out the filling of the final two wing surfaces. Work commitments have become too great and my right elbow is not cooperating enough to be able to make progress at any rate which is satisfying. When a hobby starts hurting then it's no longer a hobby!
