April 2003, Goodbye Month!1st - 3rd April No building. Too busy prior to my overseas trip.
4th - 14th April Working overseas
15th April Jet lagged!
16th April Planning meeting for an Air Race.
17th April Out to dinner with Carol. I accepted the quote to repaint my plane today. I am having Sailplane Services in Drury, just south of Auckland paint the plane for me. It'll cost me close to NZ$9000 (USD4,800) to have the plane painted by these guys but their work is astounding and includes hand cutting the finish to a high sailplane gloss.
Despite three letters to Polyfiber I have yet to have any response from them regarding my claim for cost reimbursement so I am now referring the matter to my legal representative. It is also interesting to note that they withdrew Top Gloss from the market at the beginning of the month but have not cited any reasons.
18th - 21st April Easter at Pauanui
22nd - 25th April No building, working in Hawkes Bay
26th April No building. I have now had a response from Polyfiber and I am satisfied with the reimbursement received, details of which have to remain confidential.
27th April I filled a few last holes on the first surface and then exchanged wings to start on the second under surface. I must say that I am very glad that I left the surface filling for some time as the shrinkage within the floxed ribs and around the spar is very noticeable. If the surface had been filled earlier then these areas would certainly have shown up under the paint.
28th - 30th April Just to finish the month off I got influenza!
